The Terms Adaptive and Disabled and our reason for dropping them from our foundation and supporting companies

We are dropping the term disabled and adaptive when it applies to the physically or medically challenges for all ages of men and women.  We will still refer to developmental disabilities when referencing equipment loaning to those groups who need and desire them for outdoor enjoyment.

Until I had cataract surgery, I wore glasses for 60 years and dentures for 50 years. I have friends who can not use a normal fishing rod because of strokes, lung problems and just weak.  I work with individuals who are amputees and they are not disabled, in fact very intelligent because many of them had to think for themselves how to accomplish a task.  They just need technical assistance.

I have talked to various individuals that do not like any link to disabilities as they say it puts them in the category of being clients of "ambulance chasers", lawyers who advertise for disability insurance.  They are quick to point out that there are people who deserve disability assistance financially, but also point out that there is a distinct difference between technical assistance and financial assistance.

We are reclassifying all of our equipment away from adaptive because we are mass producing most of the equipment for our customers.  RGM OUTDOORS at www.rgmoutdoors.com who does the manufacturing and sales has found that equipment can be grouped and save much money for the consumer.  Some may have to be fine tuned for an individual, but we were amazed at how compatible most of it is to many different types us usage.

RGM OUTDOORS manufactures the equipment and also handles the sales through a regular dealer program.  Here at the foundation we work with those who can not purchase the equipment or in the case of children, save the parents money by working out a short term lease for each unit as they grow.
